2005 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40.3

Clinton, Connecticut

$125,980

The Jeanneau 40.3 has often been a sweet spot for buyers who are looking for clean lines, comfortable accommodations and better than average sailing performances.

This new listing of a Jeanneau 40.3 is all of those things and more due to her single owner care, maintenance and excellent condition.   We have not seen many one owner 40 ft boats that are more than ten years old that are as clean, well maintained and suitable for many more sailing years and miles ahead of her.

This is a two cabin, one full head version.   The large head has a completely separate shower area.   Behind the shower area is a large door access to spacious storage area.

With a full, forward facing navigation station to port of the companionway, it is comfortable for proper planning whilst under way.

The settee is to starboard with two comfortable chairs and a bar storage area to port.

As many of you know, during these years of manufacturing, the Jeanneau boats were quite obviously nicer in their fit and finish and build quality than most of the other similar production type boats.

Any new owner will be quite proud to enjoy and discover the sailing performances are quite excellent for her size and displacement.

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40.3 is a distinctive yacht of great style and performance.

With twin helm stations allowing high-side operation and visibility, 40 feet of overall length, a 13-foot beam, a 5-foot bulb keel, a large spade rudder, and a 54-foot mast carrying 800 feet of sail area, this is a big yacht that sails brilliantly in any seas. Her state-of-the-art rigging includes an in-mast furling mainsail and 140% furling genoa that are both entirely controlled from the cockpit by four large Harken winches, providing maximum safety and convenience.

The size of the Jeanneau 40.3 makes her very comfortable on deck.

EXCLUDES NEW DINGHY AND ENGINE - offered at 3k if desired.

In a 2004 review for Sailing Magazine, John Kretschmer wrote, "When we cleared the harbor mouth we swung into the wind and set the main-about a 30-second procedure with the in-mast furler. Such furling systems have their drawbacks in the form of sail shape and performance but anyone who dreads setting the main because of the inevitable struggle that comes later when they have to take it down will appreciate the ease and peace of mind that comes with this option. Just as quickly we unfurled the genoa and eased off on a reach. ... it wasn't difficult to imagine ourselves relaxing at anchor, enjoying an icy cold beverage from the cockpit icebox and planning where the next day's sail would take us. That's probably what designer Andrieau had in mind when he worked on the 40.3-a nice-sailing boat for summer cruising with all the comforts of home.

Her state-of-the-art rigging includes an in-mast furling mainsail and 140% furling genoa that are both entirely controlled from the cockpit by four large Harken winches, providing maximum safety and convenience.

The size of the Jeanneau 40.3 makes her very comfortable on deck. She easily accommodates nine passengers seated in her spacious cockpit. Forward she has much area for sun bathing and moving about. Twin helm stations are mounted port and starboard. This opens the center of the cockpit for unobstructed movement under sail. Cockpit seats and floors are inlaid with nicely finished, glowing teak. A sizable teak inlaid swim platform lets guests easily access the water. Her twin helm stations have two large leather-wrapped steering wheels and areas housing top-quality Raymarine instrumentation including autopilot, boat speed, depth, log, and wind speed and direction instruments and repeaters. A Raymarine color cartographic GPS with electronic charts is also mounted in the cockpit.

The Jeanneau 40.3 is breathtaking below deck. Spacious and intelligently laid out, she is warm and inviting – the perfect venue for a unique dinner with family or friends. Finely finished teak is used throughout. She has two sleeping cabins, forward and aft, with fine cabinetry and large hatches for ventilation. The main salon provides a large table with U-shaped seating for seven. Two wide seats flank another table on the port side. A forward-facing NAV station desk also lays to port.  Her sizable L-shaped galley provides a two-burner stove, oven, refrigerator and a double sink with hot and cold pressure water.  Abundant teak cabinetry surrounds the salon and galley areas, and the floor is holly and teak. The entire space is bathed with natural light from many opening windows and hatches. Her head is sizable with a separate shower compartment.
